The 2025 Freeride World Tour (FWT) kicked off today in Baquiera-Beret, and what a start it was! Challenging conditions tested riders to their limits after gale-force winds swept away Val d’Aran’s usual winter magic. The stage was set on the new face, "La Bamba" – steep, fierce, and ready to challenge even the best. And deliver it did.
Carl Regnér-Eriksson’s Day Cut Short
Our man, Carl Regnér-Eriksson, faced a tough break early in his run. Landing on a bomb hole off the first feature meant his hopes for the podium were dashed. But if there’s one thing we know about Carl, it’s that his spirit and determination never waver. With his head held high, he’s already looking ahead to the next stop.
Scandi Riders in Action
Elsewhere, Scandinavian riders showcased their skills in the demanding conditions. Kristofer Turdell delivered a typically solid and clean run, earning him a respectable 8th place. Meanwhile, debutant Edvin Olsson made his mark with a 13th-place finish – an impressive start to his FWT journey.
Local Heroes Shine
The atmosphere in Baquiera-Beret was electric, with the local crowd showing immense support for their own. Abel Moga, riding on a season wild card, proved why he’s one to watch. And of course, Aymar Navarro, the local hero and the visionary behind the "La Bamba" face, brought his unique energy and passion to the event, both as a rider and presenter.

When the Going Gets Tough, FWT Gets Going
Freeriding is as much about resilience as it is about skill, and today’s conditions underscored that fact. The riders’ determination, adaptability, and raw talent were on full display, reminding us why we love this sport.
Next up, the FWT caravan heads to Val Thorens. With the promise of new challenges and fresh snow, we can’t wait to see what’s in store. Respect to all the riders who took on La Bamba today. Let’s keep the momentum going!
